Jack and the beanstalk

We have just started looking at this story and the children really enjoyed pretending that they were the nasty giant...Fe Fi Fo Fum!

Science Week...

..has just finished and what a week it was! We did everything creatively and it was a blast, the kids had a fantastic time! And so did I, although tired doesn't come close to describing how I felt on Friday :) Worth it though :)

Positively refreshed!

Wow, didn't take long for me to get behind on blogging! I have been busy enjoying half term for the last week!

Teaching can really take over your life in term time but the holidays are a big bonus. Without them, I'm not sure there would be many teachers left!

I have had a great holiday going out, staying in and visiting family. During my first year I let work overwhelm me in the holidays and often went back to school stressed. This year I have learnt that the holidays are there for a reason. Although I have done some work I have put it to the back of my mind for most of the holidays and I am looking forward to going back refreshed.

Before the holidays, my class were struggling with behaviour and I was really questioning my teaching skills (this is not a bad thing of course...I will be more worried the day I don't question them!)I put some strategies in place and was beginning to see results so I'm positiveabout returning and hopefully seeing a continued improvement...fingers crossed!!!

Three Little Pigs

Last week we received a very important letter in our class. In fact when we opened it up, we discovered it was not an actual letter just a blank CD. We were very confused until we had a listen. It was a message from the 3 little pigs asking for our help. They sounded very scared and who can blame them - they had just heard the news that the wolf was back in town.

We thought of lots of ways to get rid of the wolf but knew that we wouldn't get to fairytale land in time so decided to send some letters to the wolf asking him not to eat the 3 little pigs. We hope it works!!!

Little darlings!

This is a post inspired by Look at my happy rainbow!.
Here is a list of names which I use to refer to the children in my class on a regular basis :)

-little darlings
-stars
-pickles
-monkeys
-sausages
-monsters

-nightmares(note:I don't use this in the classroom and it is saved for those days when they are really playing up - they can't be gorgeous all the time!)

Bum

Shhh don't tell anyone but I currently have the word bum on display in my classroom! It's supposed to say bin (or at least I hope it is) but 5 year olds don't always get it right. It could be worse, they could have been trying to spell clock (think about it!)

But we love you more!

On announcing that I would be away from school for the day I was met with cheers from my little darlings. I thanked them for their support and let them know that Mrs X would be teaching them for the day. More cheers and a few cries of "We love Mrs X".

I was beginning to feel quite hurt (haha!) until one child piped up with "We get a WHOLE day of choosing time" (Aha! Now it makes more sense!). I quickly informed them that this was not the case and all of a sudden found myself surrounded by a group of children wanting to hug me and let me know the truth - "We love Mrs X but we love you more!".

They are so fickle :)
